SSI Receives SWaM Certification as Small Service Disabled Veteran Owned Firm
Manassas, VA — February 9, 2018
On January 31, 2018, Storage Strategies, Inc. received the Small, Women and Minority-owned (SWaM) certification from the Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity as a Small Service Disabled Veteran Owned firm.
A state program of the Commonwealth of Virginia, the SWaM certification is designed to enhance procurement opportunities for SWaM owned businesses in state-funded projects. The Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity certifies businesses that can be classified as Micro, Small, Women-Owned, Minority-Owned, or Service Disabled Veteran businesses.
To receive the Small designation, the business must be at least 51% independently owned and controlled by one or more individuals who are U.S. citizens or legal resident aliens. Including affiliates, the business must have 250 or fewer employees or average annual gross receipts of $10 million or less averaged over the previous three years.
To receive the Service Disabled Veterans designation, the business must be owned by a veteran who has obtained Service Disabled Veteran status from the Virginia Department of Veteran Services.
