About HUBZones

The Historically Underutilized Business Zones (HUBZone) program, administrated by the US Small Business Administration, helps small businesses in urban and rural communities gain preferential access to federal procurement opportunities.

The program’s benefits for HUBZone-certified companies include competitive and sole source contracting, a 10 percent price evaluation preference in full and open contract competitions, as well as subcontracting opportunities.

The US Small Business Administration has put together this short video that explains what every contracting officer should know about the HUBZone program.

The Federal government has a goal of awarding 3 percent of all dollars for Federal prime contracts to HUBZone-certified concerns.

The Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) allows for sole-source awards to HUBZone-certified companies per FAR19.1306.

For more details on working with HUBZone companies, please review the US Small Business Administration's reference material.
