Manassas Park, VA — October 16, 2017

On October 13, 2017 Manassas Park based Storage Strategies, Inc. (SSI) received the 2017 Corporate Citizenship Award from the National HUBZone Contractors’ Council.  The award recognizes innovation in the workplace, community outreach and support, and promotion of the spirit and values of the Small Business Administration’s Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) Program.  The HUBZone program promotes economic development and employment growth in distressed areas by providing small businesses located in HUBZones preferential access to federal contracting opportunities.  

SSI was commended for its benevolent approach to meeting the HUBZone staffing requirements by establishing and staffing a community service project in Manassas Park, VA. SSI’s Career Resource Center (CRC) provides free one-on-one basic IT skills tutoring services, resume preparation services, translation services, and language training services to the local community in Manassas Park.  SSI has created 17 HUBZone jobs in the last three years recruiting tech savvy high school students, training and certifying them as Microsoft Office Specialists, and employing them to deliver free basic IT skills and job search skills training to local adults. SSI partners with the Manassas Park High School work study program, which allows students who work at least 10 hours a week for the entire school year to receive one course credit while gaining practical work experience and earning income.
