Press Release

SSI Opens Office in Manassas Park

Manassas Park, VA February 21, 2014 - Storage Strategies, Inc. (SSI) announced today that it has moved its headquarters from Springfield, Virginia to the City of Manassas Park. Steve Mackie, SSI’s President, said “We are very excited about moving to Manassas Park.  The local community and City leadership have been very welcoming to us.” SSI chose Manassas Park because half of the City resides in a Historically
Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone). The HUBZone Program, established by the Small Business Reauthorization Act of 1997, helps small businesses located in certain economically challenged communities gain access to federal contracting opportunities while promoting economic development in these areas.  Economic development is achieved through increased employment opportunities, stimulating capital investment, and increased tax revenues. Mackie said, “We believe a HUBZone certification will help our business development efforts significantly while contributing to the local economy.” SSI expects it will achieve HUBZone compliance by the end March and receive SBA certification by mid-June.

SSI is taking an innovative approach to obtaining HUBZone certification in Manassas Park. They are planning to contribute to the community by establishing a workforce development program to provide services to the residents of Manassas Park.  SSI’s Career Resource Center (CRC) will provide training on basic information technology skills and job search training to Manassas Park residents.  SSI has already hired five residents of Manassas Park and a sixth from another HUBZone-designated tract in the Manassas area and expects to be hiring up to four more very soon.  SSI’s Director of Business Development, Dennis Lutero explained that, “We are working with the Manassas Park High School to identify Manassas Park High School students to hire and staff the CRC.  These students will help develop training materials, facilitate training classes and one-on-one application support, and provide back office support to SSI corporate.”  SSI is working with Ms. Christy Reavis, Manassas Park High School Career and Technical Education Chairman, to offer SSI employment opportunities to the school’s Work Study Program.  This unique education program allows students to work part time during their senior year earning credit for a class while gaining commercial work experience and earning income.  SSI’s plans for these students also includes having them working on industry IT certifications which will help make them marketable on one of SSI’s future contracts with the Federal government. SSI is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business that provides professional information technology services to Federal customers.  SSI provides quality-focused services to help customers make economical well-informed decisions to align technology investments and management with their enterprise business objectives
