SSI Adopts a U.S. Soldier
Manassas Park, VA – September 6, 2016
Storage Strategies, Inc. (SSI) recently adopted a United States soldier through (AAUSS), www.adoptaussoldier.org. AAUS is a non-profit organization which connects people and organizations across the United States with men and women deployed overseas in all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. The goal of the Adopt a Soldier program is to support deployed servicemen and women through letters, emails, cards, and care packages. Mary Moore, SSI’s Manassas Park Office Manager, said, “This program was a great way to support our troops deployed overseas and at the same time help our employees get involved in providing that support.” Steve Mackie, SSI’s President said, “A number of our Manassas Park based employees are part time students who have had little limited contact with the military outside of what they see on the news. This program provides an excellent opportunity to educate our youth about the day to day life for those that are placing themselves in harm’s way in service to our nation.” SSI will be communicating with their soldier weekly, checking in on how he’s doing sending messages of encouragement and appreciation from the staff.
SSI, previously awarded a Patriotic Employer Award by the Virginia Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), not only strives to help veterans find jobs in the private sector when the time comes, but they also support those soldiers who remain in active duty service to our country.
SSI is a service disabled veteran owned small business and certified Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) small business that provides professional information technology services to U.S. Federal agency customers. SSI also operates a Career Resource Center in Manassas Park which provides free basic computer skills training to residents of Manassas Park as a collaborative effort with the City of Manassas Park and the Manassas Park Community Center.
