SSI Appoints John Markowicz as Vice President of Business Development
Defense Industry Executive Joins SSI to Accelerate Growth in Maritime and Naval Sector
San Diego, CA — Storage Strategies, Inc. (SSI), a leading provider of Navy engineering and technical services, announced the appointment of John Markowicz as Vice President of Business Development. Markowicz brings more than 30 years of combined Naval Service and defense industry experience to SSI, where he will lead efforts to expand the company’s presence across key Navy and Department of Defense programs. Based out of San Diego, Markowicz will lead capture efforts across Naval Information Warfare Command (NAVWAR) and Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) for SSI.
Prior to his corporate career, Markowicz served 28 years in the United States Navy as an Engineering Duty Officer, retiring at the rank of Captain. He served as Major Program Manager for In-Service Aircraft Carriers (PMS 312), a multi-billion life cycle maintenance program for 11 nuclear aircraft carriers and their mid-life refueling complex overhauls (RCOH). His military career also included tours at the Pentagon, Washington Navy Yard, Type Commander Staff, Naval Shipyards, and the Fleet. He focused his diverse Navy career on sustainment support for ships, submarines, and carriers through his work with the systems commands, warfare centers, shipyards, Fleet staff, and contracting offices.

Markowicz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University. He earned a both a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Mechanical Engineer’s degree, from the Naval Postgraduate School. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in California and holds DoD DAWIA Level III certifications in both Program Management and Production, Quality, and Manufacturing. He currently serves as the Executive Committee Chair for MSTIC OTA Consortium, San Diego Section Chair for the American Society of Naval Engineers and is an active member of AFCEA and NDIA.
