Location: Manassas Park, VA

SSI is seeking a part-time IT System Administrator to oversee and maintain all aspects of our company’s computer infrastructure. This position will support a user base of 35 employees and includes maintaining networks, servers and security programs and systems. Responsibilities include:


  • Assess company’s information security posture from a system, process, and policy perspective using the NIST SP800-171 as a guideline for compliance. Identify capability and compliance gaps and develop a plan of action and milestones (POAM) for obtaining compliance. 

  • Setup Microsoft Windows 2016 network domain, configure Active Directory, integrate and manage Microsoft Office 365 services including Exchange server and associated controls. 

  • Develop corporate standards for Group Policy Objects (GPO) system configurations. Setup and implement corporate standard configuration for all new computing assets.

  • Implement and configure IT Service Management (ITSM) solution (e.g. Spiceworks).

  • Manage eight local workstations and two VLANS and remotely manage nine laptops/tablets.

  • Administer Microsoft Office 2016 server and two associated virtual machine servers.

  • Implement and manage a Virtual Private Network (VPN) solution for remote users to connect to corporate servers.

  • Manage corporate Sonicwall firewall and Aerohive wireless access point (WAP).

  • Create network topology diagrams and IT asset inventory database. Establish software license tracking solution.  Manage and monitor corporate end point security solution (Cylance).

  • Review company computer systems to ensure that all aspects are operating efficiently.  Troubleshoot problems, configure hardware and software, implement back up processes and assess systems for upgrades or replacement.

  • Install new systems and assess and implement upgrades as needed. Conduct consistent analyses of company’s computer systems to determine if existing components meet the company’s need and perform upgrades or updates as needed. 

  • Assist end users with issue troubleshooting and resolution. 



  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related areas.

  • Professional network and other computer certifications, such as A+ or CompTIA Security+ and MSCE.

  • Thorough knowledge and demonstrated experience with Windows server, domain, Active Directory, and workstation management.

  • Four years of experience with network and system administration.
