Title: Sr. Human Systems Integration (HSI) Systems Analyst

Location: Telework

Occasional Onsite Work Required at Navy/NMCI specific SIPR access location

SSI is seeking an experienced analyst to provide expertise in support of the Navy Human Systems Integration (HSI) Technical Warrant Holders (TWH) in the areas of standard/specification development, assessment criteria development, and Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR). Support will also be required in review of acquisition program efforts regarding human performance.


The successful candidate will assist with optimization of total systems performance and total ownerships costs, while ensuring that the systems are designed, operated, and maintained to effectively provide the warfighter/user with the ability to complete their mission. The position will support the domains of: Human Factors Engineering, Manpower, Personnel, Training, Habitability, Safety & Occupational Health, Force Protection & Survivability. The successful candidate will:

  • Conduct independent assessments for HSI at technical events (e.g., systems engineering technical reviews, milestone decision reviews, certification events, and independent reviews)

  • Provide technical leadership for HSI domain area

  • Coordinate with technical warrant holders and engineers to oversee, maintain, develop, and implement technical standards pertaining to HSI

  • Coordinate/communicate with the Technical Domain Manager, other TWHs, relevant SMEs on matters pertaining to HSI

  • Maintain Technical Standards

  • Provide technical assistance support for programs of record SETRs including in-depth review of the Human Factors Engineering process associated with System Engineering Plans (SEP), Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP)

  • Review how programs plan to apply HSI in development of Systems

  • Review Manpower Personnel Training & Education requirements per NAVWAR 4.0

  • Support review of Digital Transformation requirements around Agile, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and DevSecOps on Human Systems and its integration by programs

  • Work with other Navy systems commands on HSI guidance and policy


  • Active Secret Clearance

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Human Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Engineering (Aeronautical, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.), Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Computer Sciences, Operations Research, Physics, Intelligence, Foreign/International Relations, or National Security.

  • Minimum of Five (5) years of experience required; Seven (7) for Senior level candidates.

  • The candidate must have an HSI/Human Factors Engineering (HFE) background/subject matter expertise and experience with the SETR process.

  • Experience in supporting acquisition programs, and knowledge of the acquisition process/policy.

  • Understanding of other disciplines: engineering, logistics, project management, contracts, testing and evaluation

  • Knowledge of principles and practices relative to human performance to consistently improve and adapt HSI to answer requirements of the warfighter

  • Strong understanding of DoD and NAVWAR relevant policies, technical standards, and guidance

  • including but not limited to:

  • Master’s Degree in field listed above desired for Senior level candidates. Preferred degree fields also include: Human Factors Engineering, Psychology with emphasis on HFE, Organizational psychology, Industrial Engineering, Experimental Psychology, Human Systems Integration, or HSI-related area.

  • Completed DAU Acquisition 101
