SSI is seeking a mid-level Network Engineer to support a government contract. The Network Engineer will support WAN functions by providing skills and expertise in telecom engineering and operational support of current and new technologies to the Wide Area Network.



  • Analyzes and develops telecommunications networks supporting a wide range of capabilities, including voice, data, video, and/or wireless services

  • Develops designs and plans for installation and maintenance of telecommunications systems from project inception to conclusion

  • Analyzes the problem and the characteristics of the information to be transported

  • Defines the problem and develops system requirements and network specifications

  • Closely coordinates with other information system professionals to ensure proper implementation of network services

  • In conjunction with functional users, develops alternative solutions and backup plans

  • May be required to work some night and weekends to meet customer deadlines



  • 5 years of experience in Telecommunications to include 3 years of LAN and WAN experience, with Cisco and Brocade hardware

  • Must have experience in telecommunications network design and management.

  • Experience with Routing and traffic shaping protocols BGP, MPLS, OSPF and F5 BigIP

  • Experience using Remote Access VPN, Site to Site VPN, DMVPN, Pulse Secure SSL VPN

  • Demonstrated experience with Quality of Service (QoS) and IPV6 implementation and design

  • Experience with the following technologies: 802.1x and MAB endpoint authentication, DNS, TACACS+, Radius, Netscout, InfiniStream, NGeniousOne, Great Bay Beacon Server, Cisco ACS, InfoBlox Grid Manager

  • Experience with network monitoring tools: Solarwinds/Orion, Red Seal, Concord eHealth, HPE Network Node Manager and Automation

  • Active Secret Clearance

  • Must have DoD 8570 compliant IA and CE certifications to include: (IA) Security+, CSA+, CCNA Security, CASP, or CISA and also a (CE) CCSE NGX, CCNA, CCNP, CCSP, SCNA, CCSE NGX Plus NG with AI, CCMSE NG with AI, CSMSE NG with AI Plus VSX, NSA, or ESE


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics or Systems Engineering

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, feel, touch; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds; and carry up to 25 pounds. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
