SSI is seeking a full time Telecommunications Infrastructure Technician/Installer to support a government contract.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary focus of this position is to provide Inside Plant (ISP) Twisted Pair Copper Cabling, Fiber Optic Cabling and associated infrastructure installation and maintenance. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Surveys, Designs, Installs/removes, terminates, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, inspects, and maintains equipment including but not limited to: Twisted Pair Copper Cabling; FOC; AV; COAX; Multipurpose Low Voltage cabling and infrastructure; Wall & Floor mounted cabinets, racks and shelves; Telephony Blocks; Patch Panels; grounding bus bars and circuits; conduit, cable tray and raceway; Wall mounted TVs & associated VTC equipment.

  • Performs Site Surveys and gathers required data in approved format as assigned by task.

  • Performs patching and cross-connect actions as assigned by task.

  • Receive and obtain materials from on-site storage locations, transport and deliver materials to work locations, and return unused materials to storage locations as instructed by task.

  • Maintains and organizes Telecommunications Rooms and Facilities and keeps work locations and materials clean and free of obstacles and debris.

  • Coordinates and performs Remedy ticket resolution as assigned by task.

  • Evaluates, interprets, and delivers as required by task: pre-implementation drawings; redline drawings; as-built drawings; network diagrams; block diagrams; connectivity diagrams.

  • Performs inspections for IT and Telecommunication Systems including, but not limited to: Cable Plant; Infrastructure; Communications Distribution Systems.

  • Delivers Inspection Reports as required including, but not limited to: Discrepancy Reports and remediation criteria; Status Reports; Test Results; Punch Lists; Redline Drawings.

  • Delivers LOM for project implementation as applicable and Status Reports as required.

  • Occasional support on evenings or weekends may be required.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years related experience

  • Certification/Training Requirements: Confined Space Certification/Training, Advanced Low Voltage or Installer Course or 10 years credible experience

  • Background Check required, must be a US Citizen, Active Secret clearance preferred

  • Contractor is required to take applicable DLA and Host Activity site specific safety training and obtain relevant certifications.

  • Must work well independently and with others to accomplish tasks.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle, feel, touch; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds; and carry up to 25 pounds. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Work Locations: Work Locations include but are not limited to: Cable Vault, Ladders, Scissor Lifts/Articulating Boom Lifts, Building Entrance Facility, Telecommunication Facility, Telecommunication Rooms/Closets, Central Office, administrative office locations, warehouses, outdoor storage areas, Hand Holes/Manholes.
