Title: Information Systems Security Engineer
Location: San Diego, CA

SSI is seeking an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) in San Diego, CA to analyze the Cyber posture of complex Navy systems, provide critical expertise to mitigate Cyber risk, and develop solutions to ensure Navy programs support mission critical operations and deliver needed Cybersecurity functionality. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:


  • Perform security assessments to include, but not be limited to, SCAP and ACAS scans.

  • Perform third party security assessments and produce Risk Assessment Reports (RAR).

  • Support mitigation and remediation efforts updating Security Assessment Reports (SAR).

  • Prepare and update artifacts for RMF including DIP, SIP, test plans, and security plans.

  • Support security control implementation in preparing and/or updating artifacts such as the POA&M, Security Plans, P.I.A., Contingency Plans, and IAVM Plans.

  • Provide input to process and documentation such as concepts of operations, system security design, implementation plans, operational procedures, and maintenance training materials.

  • Provide engineering support to authorization/accreditation test and evaluation activities

  • Develop IT architecture deliverables, specific to information security countermeasure implementations, for operational systems and systems under development.

  • Evaluate security architectures and designs and provide input on adequacy of security designs to meet required security compliance objectives.

  • Develop and maintain processes to identify, track and mitigate customer system vulnerabilities.

  • Review applicable technical implementation guides, information assurance vulnerabilities advisors, and determine implementation at the system level.



  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and must have at least one (1) year of experience as an ISSE.

  • Experience walking a system through the entire RMF process to ATO.

  • Experience with securing operating systems in accordance with DISA STIG requirements.

  • Experience with tools such as ACAS, Nessus, SCAP, HBSS, and Splunk.

  • Possess CISSP, CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP), and/or Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP) (and / or other advanced CS/IA security relevant certifications). 

  • Possess an active Secret clearance.
